Welcome to the GibbonSong Website

GibbonSong Enterprise is a not-for-profit small operation that has a primary focus on assisting the “Karen” hill tribe people living in a small, remote northern Thailand village called “Baan Khuntae” or Ban Khuntae”.

The GibbonSong is made up of a group of friends on the east coast of Australia and up until 2025, all costs associated with our charitable work was fully funded by this small group of friends. Although the name was formally setup in 2024, our funding has continued to be met by the group’s members and a few very generous “Associate Sponsors” that assist us with our administration costs. From 2026, we will have some additional funding provided by the small profit * from our north Thailand touring adventures. This extra funding allows us to meet the cost of an annual excursion and secondary education scholarships for bright Karen students at Khuntae Primary School.

In 2026 the group has built the Gibbonsong Aussie Bushcamp, a special camping facility for nature loving guest visitors. The bird hide at the Bushcamp will be finished by Christmas 2026. This hide is to give guests the best change of photographing the local wildlife, and was generously funded by the Hunter Valley Avicultural Society in NSW Australia.

Secondary Education Scholarships that subsidise full boarding costs

Charitable Activities:

Education endeavors for the Karen children in Baan Khuntae. With the approval of local teachers, we attend the school and encourage the kids to love and protect “their” fauna and flora. We continue to assist selected bright students from the Khuntae Primary School with funding that allows them to gain a good secondary education at a Secondary school in a town in their province with boarding and food costs while they are away from home. There is no secondary school near Khuntae village, so commuting is not an option.

School excursions to selected venues that are natural history, conservation and wildlife focused. These special trips are funded by GibbonSong with great assistance from Khuntae School teaching staff and a local municipality administration officer. They provide the essential, safe transport and supervision.

The “GibbonSong Bush Camp”. A unique camping accommodation in the jungle/forest near the Khuntae village is almost finished. By approved application only, this experience will be for GibbonSong guests with a real interest in the tropical, mountainous forest environment and its wildlife and birdlife. A chance to hear and even see the endangered White Handed Gibbon (Hylobates lar) in its wild environment. Created for the assistance of the local Karen people, and providing an income for the local Karen site manager.

GibbonSong ETLK Tours are for Australians to see the real north Thailand in four star style affordably. Two-week very small group private adventure tours. Four times per year with a scenic, cultural, wildlife and flora focus with like-minded people. This new venture will assist with the funding of our projects.
